Just needed some clarifictaion -So for a PCP whether it is initial visit 99221-99223 for admission or a consult would need an 'AI' and that is the way that visit will be different from another...

Does anyone know if the major insurance companies such as BC, UHC, Cigna will adapt to Medicare's decision not to reimburse for consults?  I have called quite a few and they all say it is per policy....

It is per policy there is not one general rule for all different policies for each carrier.

Now... the fun part of this is...... If you bill Medicare for a IP consult and use the appropriate admit code = all's well and fine.. But, when you bill the secondary (for those that don't auto-X)...
